Pet-Tek was established in 1999 out of a clear industry need. With deep roots in the specialised glazing and window consumable sector across New Zealand, the founding team identified a critical flaw in the market — imported pet doors were plagued by constant warranty claims due to structural failures, loud flapping noises, and poor sizing. Customers deserved better, and so did the glaziers installing them.
Driven to eliminate these widespread issues, Pet-Tek designed a revolutionary, high-impact glass-fitting cat door tailored specifically for professional glaziers, glass companies, and window producers. The design featured a clean, round cut-out profile — a deliberate engineering choice that vastly simplified the glass-cutting and installation process for professional installers, reducing time on site and eliminating the common failure points of rectangular alternatives.
