Frequently Asked Questions
No. Toughened and double-glazed glass cannot be cut after manufacture. The glass panel must be replaced with a new one that has the round cut-out hole pre-cut at the time of manufacture. Your glazier can order a replacement panel with the hole already in it. Contact us if you need the exact cut-out diameter for your chosen model.
Both the slim line (G-SDDSLC, G-SDDSLW) and dual glaze (G-SDDC, G-SDDW, G-SDDB) maxi pet doors have the same flap opening size and the same 267mm cut-out diameter. The slim line has a lower-profile frame suited to glass up to 21mm. The dual glaze model has a deeper frame accommodating glass up to 28mm, better suited to thicker double-glazed units.
Measure your cat's shoulder height — the flap opening should be at least as tall as your cat's shoulder. The original cat door (G-CDC, G-CDW) with a 190×165mm flap suits most domestic cats. The maxi pet door range (267mm cut-out, 195×185mm flap) suits larger cats and small dogs. Use the Pet Door Selector for a personalised recommendation.
The G-MCDW stays locked by default. Your cat wears a small C-M collar magnet which triggers the door to unlock automatically as they approach. No batteries or microchip reader required. Other cats or animals without the magnet cannot open the door.
